How Customer Representatives Can Help You Handle Tacky Situations

To get professional help for your problems, you can contact the customer support executive of the hardware or software manufacturer. The job of a customer service representative is to understand the issue that the customer is facing and find suitable solutions and help. However, sometimes customers beat around the bush and do not explain what the exact problem is and this takes a lot of time. Time is money and if the customer goes on talking without having a solution, financial losses are bound for the company. So for the customer care representative to take control over the situation and to stop or prevent the customer from going out of topic, the below provided tech support guidelines need to be followed.

Instructions

  • Listen to the customer’s problem with utter patience. Since the customer is calling the representative, there might be a specific reason. So hear him out completely so that you can provide him with the necessary help.
  • If the customer is beating around the bush regarding the queries, ask the customer questions to which he can give yes/no answers. That way, the customer representative as well as the customer can focus at the problem in hand.
  • If the customer is speeding like a bullet train and not stopping, you may politely interrupt the customer. This way, you can have a better understanding of the problem at hand; otherwise, if they go on nonstop, you will not get an idea of what they are talking about.
  • Provide fruitful answers for the questions asked by the customer. When you give efficient and to the point answers, the customer can understand easily and this will help in resolving the problem that the customer is facing.
  • The customer representative should be gentle and polite and should never lose his cool, as every customer is very much valued and for the growth of the company, large numbers of loyal customers are needed. If you have not understood the guidelines properly, you may contact our customer support center. Our customer support center will help in resolving your problems and queries.

Windows Tablets Suffer As Many Popular Apps Still Absent In Windows 8

Market reports suggest that tablets based on Windows operating systems perform poor when compared to tablets from Apple or other Android based tablets. So, why does this happen? A recent study revealed that the poor Windows 8 support for apps could be the major reason for this trouble. According to the study, the tablets with Windows operating system do not include many of the popular apps in the market that are readily available on tablets based on other operating systems.

According to Nick Landry, who is the product manager at Infragistics, Windows Store does not have about half of the popular apps in the market. Some of these missing apps include Facebook, Vine, YouTube, Pandora and Instagram. You will also not find another popular app for professionals, LinkedIn in it. If you are keen on news and current affairs, you will still be disappointed with a Windows tablet, as it does not include the apps for BBC News, Bloomberg and Flipboard. Banking can also be a difficult job with a Windows tablet since it does not include the apps for some of the most popular banks in the world like Chase and Citibank.

Patrick Moorhead of Moor Insights and Strategy says that "The numbers just reinforce the challenge that Windows 8 still has in apps. Windows 8 still doesn't support the No. 1 social app, Facebook, the No. 1 paid-content app, HBO GO, the No. 1 sports app, Watch ESPN. These, and others, are the same apps that I've been griping about for over a year, and they're still not supported."

Experts say that this drawback or lack of apps may not be a challenge when it comes to desktop or laptop computers. However, when it comes to tablet computers, these apps are going to play a major role as tablet users may find it difficult to open the webpage for these corresponding apps and view the content.

Even though the lack of apps for Windows 8 tablets is a major concern, a recent report from IDC finds that there is a small rise in the market share of Windows 8 tablets. About 4 percent of tablet users are working on a device with Windows 8 OS. Keep in mind that this figure stood at one percent last year.

Reports suggest that Microsoft is getting ready to provide more Windows 8 support for apps. The company says that apps are getting ready for Flipboard and Facebook and we may see the release of other popular apps soon.

Appy Pie Support Now On Windows 8 Phones

Appy Pie recently announced that they would provide support for their Windows Phone Apps. The arrival of the new Windows 8 OS with its new interface and touchscreen optimization has sparked new interest in Windows Phones. The new Windows 8 support has been extended to users of Appy Pie, an emerging cloud based Mobile Apps builder. The recent shift in technology and operating systems in Windows Phones, and now support from Appy Pie people with virtually zero programming knowledge and skill requirement, will let developers create custom apps easily. With the added Windows 8 support on Windows Phones, Appy Pie’s Windows app builder is rated as one of the best online app builders.

Appy Pie is not a new player in the game. Already established as one of the top app builders, Appy pie has allowed users to create apps on all major platforms, which also include Apple’s iOS, Android, Blackberry 10 and Windows 10. Now they have also added support for Amazons Kindle Fire HD, which according to Abhinav Girdhar, CEO of Appy Pie Inc., was just the next logical step. He added that the company is always on the lookout for new features to integrate and support into Kindle Fire HD, which is just another addition to their large platform base. The added support for Kindle Fire HD opens up a great door of opportunities that help millions of users design mobile apps for the Kindle Fire market - currently this platform has shown rapid growth. All new apps on the Kindle Fire HD will soon be lining up on the Amazon Store, allowing millions of users to use the new set of applications.

However, there is more from Appy Pie’s end. With support for Windows 8 Phone apps and apps for Kindle Fire HD already in the bag, Appy Pie also added features that help users without a mobile website. Now, the Appy Pie can roll out apps that can also act as mobile websites. Using this new feature, users can apply or configure a redirect code between mobile an desktop websites, by just copying 2 lines of code into the desktop website’s Head tag.

With all the the new inclusions in mobile phone operating systems and new set of apps, the smartphone industry is definitely getting a huge surge of developers. Recently, when Blackberry unveiled the Blackberry 10, the markets saw a huge rise in Blackberry sales. The future for app developers and more importantly users, sure seems like a bright and prospective one.

With Hot Mail you can send and receive email messages to communicate with distant friends and family. It also has a chat service that allows you to hold private conversations with your chat contacts.

Sometimes you may forget the MSN password, and be denied access. Depending on how extensively you use the MSN services, this would be a huge loss. This means you can no longer access your emails as well as any chat contacts. Fortunately there is a simple and easy password recovery service for regaining access to your account. The following instructions should help you recover your password without a hassle.

Instructions

  • Access your Windows Live Reset your password page.
  • Once you access the page, enter your Windows Live ID in its designated field. This ID is the same as your MSN ID. Type in the random characters, just below where they appear on the screen, and click on Next.
  • Besides the Security Question you will notice a button. Click it. This asks the security question that you had chosen when you set up the account initially. Type the correct answer in its answer field and select the Next option once more.
  • Type the new password into the empty password field. You will have to type it again accurately, for confirmation. Now this password is activated for all the MSN services that you use. The next time you want to use an MSN service, just type this new password.

Do not forget the MSN password next time you use the services. Else, you will have to go through the procedure all over again. Set a good and secure password for your MSN account.

If you face any issues while using the services, you can contact the Windows Online support site, and then get them to help you resolve your MSN issues. Windows Online support is available 24/7, throughout the year. They offer excellent customer services, and are quick at dispatching solutions to your issues.

Resolve Frequent Outlook Crashing Or Hanging Issues

Even though Outlook is a versatile program, you will face some errors like frequent crashing or hanging of the program from time to time. These errors occur due to errors with the data file of the Outlook program. Follow the simple instructions given below for fixing this issue.

Instructions

  • The first thing you need to do is to find what type of data file your Outlook program has, whether it is a .OST file or a .PST file. You can know this by browsing to the default storage location of the Outlook manually or by getting help from the Outlook repair program.
  • If you are using a Windows 7 operated PC, the default location is C:\Users\Name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook and the same can be found at the location C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook.
  • If you are not able to see the files in the above-specified locations, use the Outlook program to find the location.
  • To find the location using Outlook tools, click on the Account Settings or Tools option found under Outlook’s File menu and then click on the Account Settings tab present under it.
  • Now click on the Data Files tab and then on Open File Location for opening the data file location.
  • Now you can know what type of file system Outlook uses, also take a note of the size of the file. If the file size is above 2GB, you will have to run a truncation utility for reducing the size of the file, as a high file size may lead to frequent crashing of file system.
  • Now that you know what type of file you have, you will need to run the Scanpst.exe or Scanost.exe file accordingly for repairing the Outlook data files to prevent the frequent crashing error.
  • If you are running the Outlook 2010 application, you will have to run the Scanpst.exe file. You can run this file by browsing to the location C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\ and then double clicking on the file.
  • Now the Outlook repair tool will run and analyze your Outlook program for all possible errors and corruption issues and will fix them automatically.

Steps To Make Windows Vista Load And Run Faster

Most of us face issues regarding the slowing down of our computers, and this eventually turns out to be an irritating scenario. Nowadays, most computer manufacturers load the new systems with shareware and programs the users would seldom use. These programs in turn cause the computer to slow down. According to the expert technicians at Microsoft tech support, removing these programs from the system can improve the speed of the system.
However, removing such programs would not automatically enhance the speed of the system. This is because, even if you remove such programs, there might be others that would still load when you started the computer, and you would not need most of these either.
You can follow these instructions to make the Windows Vista load and run faster, before seeking assistance from the Windows Vista help.
  • In the first step, go to the Start menu and select the option Run. Now, in the Run dialog, type msconfig without quotes, and click OK. This would open the System Configuration dialog.
  • After opening this option, select the Startup tab from the System Configuration tool. You would get a list of the programs that would load when the computer starts.
  • Make sure you uncheck any program that you do not want loading at startup. Note that you could uncheck all items in this list, and your PC would still start. Remember the fact that some things may not work correctly, but the PC would start.
  • Now, select the General tab on the System Configuration Tool, followed by the Selective Startup radio button. Windows would eventually load the programs that are selected in the list when the computer starts. At any point of time, you can also contact Windows Vista help, and seek assistance for your queries.
  • Now, click on the OK option. You would be presented with an option box to Restart Now or Restart Later. The changes you just made would not take effect until you restart, but this option would help you to save and close anything you may have been working earlier to make the changes.
  • Once the computer has restarted, you may get a pop up message informing you that the system configuration has changed. In the last step, click OK to acknowledge the changes.
Hence, these simple steps would help you to load your Windows Vista system faster, and fix such issues. For further information, you can also contact our technical support.

Some Facts On Microsoft Helpdesk Software

We would unanimously agree that reliable after-sales support and customer help are the prime qualities that we look for in any product or service. Developing help desk software used to be a tedious affair for companies, owing to the fact that the costs for additional software or hardware sometimes run into millions of dollars. However, with the advent of web-based helpdesk software tools, the story has changed altogether.
Here, we give you a bird’s eye view of Microsoft helpdesk software - one of the most sought after tools in its category.

History

Microsoft’s service desk software was released way back in 2006 as part of developing its ‘System Center’ family of tools. The new arrangement mainly aims at reducing the time and effort involved in servicing help desk calls. An enhanced version of the same- namely Systems Center Configuration Manager was launched the following year, enabling IT administrators to set up and manage large aggregations of Windows machines.

Systems Management Server

The helpdesk tool from Microsoft is by and large web-based, riding and roaring on the exclusively engineered Systems Management Server (SMS) version 4. The new server is strengthened by the highly surveillant ‘Network Access Protection’ feature, which verifies that the client PCs have the latest security updates. In case it is found that the client PC’s security regime is not updated, access to the corporate network shall be denied, but users shall be frequently notified through pop-up messages.
Moreover, the new service desk software is integrated with other tools, in such a way that the helpdesk can readily decipher issues, diagnose them, provide solutions and keep the client better informed without having to make extra calls or emails.

Competitors

Well, Microsoft is not the sole player in the category. Spiceworks is one good competitor who provides free help desk apps that enable customers to send requests to the support department of the concerned company via email or the Internet. Alongside, this platform also allows the businesses to develop and customize a self-service IT help desk portal.
SysAid is yet another web-based helpdesk tool, through which customers can use the hotkey command or end-user portal for submitting service requests. The requests are routed in accordance with the organization's priorities and preferred parameters. Moreover, SysAid offers an exclusive knowledge database, enabling technicians to find instantly, appropriate solutions to customers’ queries.
Despite such stiff competition, Microsoft helpdesk software platform indeed rules the market, thanks to its stability and error-free programming.

How To Perform Outlook Troubleshooting

Microsoft Outlook is a popular email client that is capable of managing your different email accounts with ease. Outlook avoids the need to specifically logging in to each of your different email accounts and instead downloads and lets you access your email messages by simply logging into your Outlook account.

Some Outlook troubleshooting tips

Though Outlook is renowned for its ease of use and features, it might sometimes come up with errors enough to perplex you. When you encounter problems while using Outlook, you need to perform certain troubleshooting steps to fix it. Keeping this in mind, Microsoft has included some Outlook repair tools that can help you fix the issue yourself.

Other than these built-in Outlook repair tools, you can also make use of the Windows repair utilities like the System Restore to resolve problems with Outlook. However, one cannot guarantee that performing the System Restore would successfully fix the Outlook issue, as it depends on the type of the issue.

For certain Outlook issues, performing the System Restore would be the easy fix. But at times, it can be an overkill. If your Outlook is behaving strangely, it is better to do some online research to get easy and useful tips on troubleshooting. You will get really useful tips from Microsoft Support online that can help fix your specific Outlook problem. Microsoft Support Center is a resource pool that contains valuable information about Outlook breakdowns and manual repairs.

Issues with Outlook Inbox and PST files can be fixed by using the built-in repair utility called the Inbox Repair tool (Scanpst.exe). There are also other repair tools like the Advanced Outlook Repair, Recovery Toolbox, Stellar Outlook PST Repair etc., which are available for a small amount of fee. These repair tools are used to fix specific Outlook problems.

Sometimes, even after using all these repair utilities, you might still have issues with using Outlook. If that is the case, it is advised to perform a reinstallation of Microsoft Outlook application on your computer. Before reinstalling Outlook, you need to backup your current Outlook data (.pst) files. Create regular backups, manually, of your Outlook .pst files so that you can restore emails, addresses, and calendars from these archives in the future. Once you have created the backups, you can go ahead and reinstall Outlook on your computer.

If you have any more Outlook problems, you can contact the Outlook support team and get further assistance.

More On Scheduling Outlook Errors

Microsoft Outlook cannot be considered as just an email client, it contains additional features like reminders, calendar, task lists, auto reply options etc. It is not only possible to schedule a meeting or an event, but also coordinate events and meetings with other people in the same Microsoft Exchange server. You may encounter errors labeled “Unable to connect to Server” while using the Microsoft Outlook program. Let us look into the details of these Outlook problems.

Server Connections

When Outlook is started for the first time, it automatically searches for an Exchange Server. Exchange server is the place where all the emails, events and users are stored permanently. If the Outlook program was successful in connecting with the server, it will connect and synchronize your data to a local storage area, including tasks, emails, contacts and meetings. If the Outlook program is unable to connect to the Exchange Server, it will work in offline mode with the data that is already available in your computer.
Lookups

Another very useful feature of the Outlook and Exchange is its ability to review other user’s schedules when setting up a meeting with them. This will be only possible when you are connected to the Exchange Server. If your computer is not connected to the network, or if there is a problem in the network between the server and your computer or if the Exchange Server is temporarily down, the Outlook program will not be able to look up other user’s calendars to see if they are available.
Drops in the Connection

You may be successful in establishing the connection with the Exchange Sever at times and then the connection may get interrupted. If you were trying to change an existing meeting schedule and were to send out an update to a participant, or if you were half way through making a meeting notice when the connection was interrupted, you will get an error message on the connection being lost and being unable to complete the scheduling. You need not worry about this, as you can save the meeting locally and send it at a later time when the connection is reestablished.
These are some of the basic ‘Unable to connect to Server’ errors that the Outlook program encounters. If you want to know more on these issues, you may visit the Outlook problems module of the Microsoft web site or you may contact Microsoft support for further assistance.

Helpful Tips For Rebooting The Help And Support Service

If you are a Windows user, you might know about the various services that run in the background of your computer. In normal cases, these services are launched automatically. However, you can also manually start them or disable them, depending upon the configurations of the services under consideration. In the case of a system failure or when your computer is stuck, you may need to restart the services using the services manager. Microsoft Windows operating systems include a support feature that can be enabled by using the Help and Support service.
The Help and Support service helps you with the necessary support services and also with fixing any technical glitches. The feature gets this done by connecting to the Windows online support team and gathering all the information from the database of Microsoft.
Well, here in this article, I have come up with some simple instructions that will help you restart the Help and Support services.

  • Before you begin with the procedure, you need to see that all the programs that are actively running on your computer have been closed down. This is because actively running programs that make use of the RAM memory may slow down the speed of your computer system.
  • Next up, you need to click on the Windows Start menu that is located on the left side bottom corner of your computer screen and scroll to the icon that is labeled as Search.
  • Now, in the Search field, you need to type in the text ‘services.msc’ and hit the Enter key on your computer keyboard.
  • Following which, you need to navigate to the list of services that are shown in the Services window that opens up. After that, you need to click on the Help & Support Service in order to highlight that service.
  • Once you did that, you need to click on the link that is named as Restart located in the column on the left side of the window. Doing so will restart the Help & Support Service option.

Well, that was some details about restarting the Help and Support Service feature in Windows 7 operating system. Now, if you are still experiencing some problems with the feature and you are unable to restart it, you can feel free to get in touch with our Windows online support team for further assistance on this matter.

How To Tackle Windows Update Issues

Microsoft regularly releases Windows updates that help users to fix issues within different operating systems. There are times when users find it difficult to install the update or might prompt you to report the problem. This is when you have experienced a Windows update error. Earlier updates have been known to cause problems on individual systems, and the Service Pack 2 installation was one among them which has reported widespread problems. A common issue with Service Pack 2 installation is that, sometimes the install hangs at 67% and does not complete the updates. But this issue was later effectively resolved when Microsoft launched its upgraded version Service Pack 3.
You can contact a tech support service to reinstall the necessary components of the update package to combat failed Microsoft updates. There is also a chance that a third party program installed on your computer can have control over Windows utilities that need to be modified. So why is it important to install the Microsoft Windows Update?
Microsoft releases update patches for known issues on Windows. These issues could be security flaws or bugs in the proprietary software. Apple has recently launched a fix for the Flashback malware that has infected almost 600,000 Macs in the US and Canada. Updating the operating system is the best way of keeping your computer secured and operating system working normally.

Tips to prevent Windows update problems

Backup all your data, on an external drive if possible. Windows has in-built Backup and Recovery tools that allow you to do this, and further setup a recovery point that you can use to restore all program files in the event of a crash or corrupt drive. Restart your computer after backup is complete. Do this each time you install a patch. You can change Update Settings so that updates are downloaded but not installed immediately. You can then restart your computer after installing each individual update. This way you will know which update is causing the issue.
Experts suggest that you should temporarily disable your antivirus program while installing operating system updates. This is because your antivirus scans, and sometimes blocks, programs that try to change system settings. This is an unnecessary precaution when getting updates from a trusted source such as Microsoft support center or an online tech support service. With real time protection turned off, you can update Windows unhindered.
These are some information on Microsoft Windows Update issues and its various prevention techniques.

As per the Microsoft Tech Support guidelines, a damaged file typically shows repagination, incorrect layout and formatting, unreadable characters, error messages, along with the inability to load or view the file. Imagine a situation where you cannot open the document after you have done all the work! However, an initial error message on a document need not mean you will never be able to open the document again.

How to repair a corrupt file that can be opened

Navigate to the File menu and choose Open. A dialogue box will be displayed and you can choose the name of your file. Click on the file, then click on, and hold down the Open button at the bottom right hand of the screen. A drop down menu will pop up. Choose Open and Repair from the options.
Save the document as a separate file format and convert it back to a Word document file. Try to save the document either as a rich text format or as a web file. These file types will preserve formatting. After you save the document under any of these file types, close the file and open it again in Microsoft Word. Again, save the file as a .DOC file. Either you can save it in a word processing format or a text only file.
Insert the document into another Word document. Open a new document. From the Insert menu, choose File. Locate the corrupt file and click twice over the same to insert it.
Use a separate program to open the corrupt file. You can try other word processor applications like word perfect, text pad, or Open Office.
Now, copy the undamaged portions of text to a new document.

How to repair a corrupt file that cannot be opened

Open the file in draft mode without updating the links. Choose to open the Word and then click on the View menu and choose Normal.
Choose Options on the Tools menu. A dialogue box will pop up.
Click on the View tab and make sure there is a check mark in the boxes beside picture, placeholders and draft font.
Click on the General tab. Make sure the Update automatic links at open is unchecked.
Click OK on the Options screen to close the box and finally save the settings. Open the document and check if there is any damage.
You can follow these instructions to repair the corrupt files in Microsoft Word as given by Microsoft tech support.
