Outlook Express is a cut down version of the Microsoft Outlook email manager program. The program has only limited functions even though it can work as an email manager program. The program is very much useful for people having low configuration computers, as they will be able to manage their emails using the Outlook Express email client with ease. Follow the simple instructions from Outlook Express help center for configuring a new email account in Outlook Express.

  • Click on the Mail tab found in the Accounts option found in the Tools drop down menu.
  • Select the Add button and then click on the Mail tab for opening a new dialog box.
  • In the page that appears, Outlook Express help team suggests you to type in the name you would like to display with the email account in the text box found beside the option named Display Name.
  • After clicking on the Next button found at the bottom right corner of the dialog box, type in the full email address of the email that you wish to configure in the text field found beside the option labeled E-mail Address.
  • Now click on the Next button and type in the incoming and outgoing email servers in the respective fields.
  • Click on the Next button and then type in the full email address in the box found beside the Account Name option.

  • Put a check mark in the check box found beside the option labeled My server requires authentication and then select the Authentication tab.
  • Under the tab Server Port Numbers, change the Outgoing mail (SMTP): port number to 26 if you are not able to access emails while using port number 25.
  • Click on the Apply button found at the bottom of the dialog box and then click on the Close button to close the dialog box.
