Windows 8.1 Users Asked To Download Latest Version Before June 10

Windows 8.1 was the latest update for the Windows 8 operating system released by Microsoft last year. This update saw the return of the Widows Start button and has fixed some of the common issues associated with Windows 8 operating system. Before the Windows 8.1 users have to update to the latest version, they will receive another set of security patches. Moreover, those users who have not installed the April’s update for Windows 8.1 will not receive any latest patches. As of now, Microsoft has changed its decision and given June 10 as the deadline. It is highly recommended that the users of Windows 8.1 OS update their OS to the latest version before June 10.

Brandon LeBlanc of Microsoft wrote in a blog post, “While we believe the majority of people have received the update, we recognize that not all have.” Moreover, he added, “Having our customers running their devices with the latest updates is super important to us. And we’re committed to helping ensure their safety.” In additon, the users who are using the other Windows OSs like Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows 8 versions will receive patches and the updates needed for the operating system as usual.

The big update released by Microsoft in April is only applicable to the Windows 8.1 users and they need to download this update without any fail. By navigating to the option PC Settings, then PC and devices, then PC info seen under the section called Windows will help you find out which Windows 8 version you are using; i.e., whether it is Windows 8 or Windows 8.1.

Most of the users of Windows 8.1 would have automatically got the update but those who have not enabled the option of Automatic updates need to download the updates manually. You simply need to navigate to the Start screen and find the button called Search seen at the top right side of your screen to know whether you are running the latest version or not. If you are able to locate it, then it is an indication that you are using one of the latest Windows 8 versions.

Those users who are not using the latest update need to navigate to Settings, then Change PC Settings, then Update and recovery, and then Windows Update. Now, click the option called Check Now. Select the option called View Details once you have found the update. To know more about Windows 8 patches and fixes, contact our Windows 8 support team.
