Directions For Removing Toolbars From IE

Web browser is an application that helps one load a website URL. Internet Explorer is the default web browser on Windows platforms. Other popular web browsers are Google Chrome, Opera and Mozilla Firefox. Although browsing websites is the basic function of the web browser, it allows users to customize the application to improve the features and options. A simple way to improve the web browser features is to download and install toolbars. Toolbars are web browser add-ons. Most of the popular websites such as Google, Yahoo and Bing offer free toolbars. Users can install these toolbars on their web browser and enjoy the services these toolbars offer.

How to remove toolbars?

Despite the usefulness of the toolbars, more people are concerned about how to remove them rather than how to install them. This is due to the problems that toolbars cause to the web browsers. If you do not use the features of a toolbar or if your internet is slow, it is better to remove these toolbars. Here is the list of instructions you need to follow to get rid of a toolbar from your Internet Explorer web browser.

Instructions

  • Once the browser is launched, locate the toolbar that you want to remove and press the arrow attached to it. This will display a drop-down menu.
  • Locate the Uninstall option from the drop-down menu and highlight it.
  • If IE prompts to you to confirm your decision to remove the toolbar, press OK and the toolbar is gone.
  • Restart your browser and you will no longer have the toolbar.
Sometimes, the toolbar is not removed even after you remove it from the web browser. In such cases, it is better to remove the toolbar from Add/Remove Programs.
  • Go to the Start button and select Control Panel from the drop-down menu.
  • In the Control Panel screen, locate and select Add/Remove Programs to open it.
