- Choose Start button and the Start menu will pop up on screen. From the menu, choose the Run command.
- The Run dialog box will appear on screen. Into the field of the Run command, enter Regedit.
- The registry editor window will appear on screen.
- Navigate to the key:
- Right click on HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Protected Storage System Provider key and choose Permissions.
- Choose the Advanced tab available in dialog box labeled Permissions for Protected Storage System Provider. Verify that the <Username> has complete control access. Choose Replace permission entries....
- Choose OK.

- Now by availing the Edit menu and choosing Delete, you can easily perform the deletion of the Protected Storage System Provider key. The exporting of a key can also be done. To do so, perform the task of Right clicking on the Protected Storage System Provider key and choose Export. By double clicking, you can easily re-import the file.
- While deleting, the below mentioned error message will appear on screen:
- Choose the Yes button.
- Open Outlook Express. During the verification of the mail account(s) by Outlook, re entry of the password(s) will be possible.
